Opening Day!

Well we did it!  Saturday June 5th was opening day and a beautiful day it was!  We were expecting rain but it turned out to be just beautiful!  A BIG thank you to Jameson Health Systems for the use of their facility for the market, THANK YOU!  John Daley for the great music, a BIG thank you to the vendors who came, and a BIG thank you to all those who helped!  But most importantly a BIG thank you to the folks who came and browsed and purchased items.

Here are a few pics forom the event:

Update 5/12

Hello all! Applications and the Bylaws for the Farmer’s Market are available in downloadable form at
www.nw-green.org
and will be available in paper form at the Boro office by the end of the week.
A children’s coloring contest (free) will also be running during the first Market, as a fun start for the little ones. I hope to have copies made by the end of the week, and then we can distribute them to schools, local businesses, etc. I am currently looking for 3 fun prizes, age group 3-10. Please send me your ideas ;)

If any of you that are selling have a special first-day-of-market activity/sale, etc., please let me know so that I can “bill” them with excitement.

Completed forms should be mailed to:

New Wilmington Green Farmer’s Market
P.O. Box 28
New Wilmington, PA 16142

We are listed on the USDA’s site, localharvest.org and in the “Fresh From the Farm” local pamphlet.

Thank you to everyone that is helping make this happen!

Sincerely,
Valerie Shaw

Get Ready New Wilmington!!!

The green “Market on Market Street” in New Wilmington, PA, is a gathering of green thumbs, gourmets and creativity. Produce sold at the market can be described s “good faith organic”, certified organic, or all-natural. Growers pledge to use natural growing and management methods, and reject what is currently convential – synthetic and petroleum derived chemicals, herbicides, pesticides and all other toxic concoctions, as well as avoiding GMOs (genetically modified organisms). We celebrate life- from rich, fertile compost to plump, juicy sun-ripened tomatoes, from inspired artists and storytellers to joyful musicians, from grass-fed livestock to bright-yolked eggs, and hearth baked bread to rain-soaked basil. Come indulge your senses, support local neighbors, and celebrate with us! It’s bound to be delicious.
Our first market day will be Saturday, June 5th, from 9am to noon, in the Jameson parking lot at the center of town. Bring your biggest canvas bag or basket, and please walk or bike in if you can. The Market will run until those crisp October frosts shut us down.
See you there!
